Nick Lau

My name is Nick Lau and I am a senior at James Madison University, originally from Marshall, VA. With an intrigue in creative work, I am most interested in roles such as social media specialist or layout designer. Regarding this program, studying in Urbino, Italy has allowed me to hone in on what aspects of content creation I want to perfect and what areas I want to begin building foundational skills for. One individual skill that Urbino has taught me is never assuming the worst before attempting your best. Transitioning this idea from a basic interaction like ordering coffee into… Read More »Nick Lau

When first arriving in Italy I had no idea what to expect, I had never been to Italy or even Europe so I, always the optimist, hoped to spend a month of leisure and relaxation. I was not given such an opportunity but my experiences learning about the culture of a small town and a variety of media concentrations I had no experience in far surpassed what I could have imagined. I was interested in living in an older city, but I was blessed to stay in a town centuries old, home to one of the oldest universities in the… Read More »Brendan Roth

Studying abroad in Italy has provided immense opportunities for me as a student and a tourist. This program has expanded my knowledge about media and storytelling, but also about myself and the wonderful collogues I collaborated with. The travel experiences have improved my adaptability, problem solving skills, and have helped me become more independent individual. Urbino has such a special place in my heart, and I will forever cherish the memories of daily gelato, aperitivo, and endless croissants. Being able to explore Italy while also furthering my interactive design education is a dream come true. I especially loved becoming accustomed to Italian culture. It was a bit of a challenge at first but now it feels like a home to me. My favorite experience overall is the new relationships I’ve made with my classmates. We all have created long lasting friendships and connections that we will carry with us throughout our careers. University: James… Read More »Sarah Lockard

When I found this program as an online student, I thought it would be an incredible opportunity. Not only to immerse myself in the field of journalism internationally but to also meet new people before I move cross country to live on my college campus. I could have never imagined the friendships and memories I would make within the first hours of landing in Rome. My time in Urbino has been nothing short of extraordinary. I have pushed myself out of the comfort I had settled into back home and truly feel that this place has brought me back to… Read More »Dakota Kendall
